Our staff is a kaleidoscope. We recognize and value our differences while working toward our common goals.
LEE’s full-time, permanent staff is around 150 people; add in other types of staff members and we are about 200 people strong. Our size requires us to be collaborative, while our young tenure requires innovation. Our staff come from many different professional backgrounds including the private sector, the nonprofit sector, community organizing, policy, advocacy, elections and campaign work, the classroom, and more. They have one unifying passion: to solve educational inequity. Our staff members possess a few distinct qualities, such as:
- Being comfortable with both ambiguity and navigating process-oriented structures
- Operating independently and autonomously
- Thriving in ambiguity and change
- Sharing a generosity of spirit and assuming the best in others
- Focusing on continuous learning, unlearning, and both giving and receiving feedback
- Prioritizing diversity, equity and inclusion in our work
- Demonstrating strong verbal and written communication and technological proficiency

Anthony Adorno
Director, Data & Evaluation
The best part of working at LEE is being part of an organization that is not only willing to take on the monumental challenge of educational equity, but that approaches that vision in a very inclusive and practical way. Working alongside such a diverse group of individuals all committed to achieving this goal is not only very satisfying but incredibly inspirational. LEE truly gives me an opportunity to do work worth doing.

Keisha Barnard
Manager, Member Resources & Compliance
LEE pushes me to have agency over my work. I appreciate the flexibility that allows me to learn skills and work on projects not officially defined in my role responsibilities. I am encouraged to grow and learn, and I feel like a crucial member of my team. I love the energy that I feel from every team member, even though we connect virtually.

Brooke Russell
Director, Performance Management
I love my job because I am challenged daily, and everyone at LEE is passionate about the mission of the organization. It’s rare to work somewhere where you’re supported by staff at all levels, and there’s still room for flexibility and input in your work. Being able to work from home or move to another city easily is a huge plus as well!
