About Ready to Run

Ready to Run is a highly selective workshop exclusively for members who are actively pursuing elected office in the next one to two years, and identify with a community that has historically been underrepresented in political leadership (specifically women, people of color and LGBTQIA+ candidates).

At this virtual workshop, you will:

  1. Prepare for the launch of your future campaign
  2. Explore the unique opportunities and challenges faced by first-time candidates, candidates of color, women, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community
  3. Build connections with diverse leaders from across the country who are committed to educational equity

Attending the workshop

The next Ready to Run will be held virtually from March 15-19, 2022, over the course of four virtual sessions.

Virtual Ready to Run Dates:

  • Tuesday, March 15, 2022 | 6-7:30 pm ET

  • Wednesday, March 16, 2022 | 6-7:30 pm ET

  • Thursday, March 17, 2022 | 6-7:30 pm ET

  • Saturday, March 19, 2022 | 12-5 pm ET

You will be required to attend each day of the workshop. Ready to Run is grounded in a campaign simulation that is meant to allow participants to learn best practices, develop a mock campaign plan and strategy, and test some of the hypotheses and decisions made as a team.

Who should apply

Ready to Run is for members who are actively pursuing elected office in 2022 or 2023 (but have not officially filed or declared their candidacy) and identify with a community that has historically been underrepresented in political leadership.

Applicants should ideally be in coaching conversations with a LEE staff member about their interest in running for office.
