Have you ever thought about creating civic change through political organizing–whether as a candidate or advocating for an important issue–but didn’t know where to start? The Exploring Elected Leadership learning path is a curated experience to provide you with foundational knowledge, skills, and mindsets to set you up for success!

About the Course

We examined successful advocacy campaigns, elected officials, and candidates to create a framework called “The 5 Ms,” which are iMpact, Match, Message, Movement, and Money. Through these, you’ll articulate your vision for impact, match that impact to the right opportunity, develop clear messaging, build a strong movement, and organize money and people to create change.

What to Expect

Expect to reflect and challenge yourself. As you work to become the leader your community needs, you will grow in profound ways. Growth requires lots of effort, and the 5Ms framework will help you get there.
Each module is designed to be “plug and play,” which means that there is no linear pathway to follow. You’ll be able to “choose your own adventure” as you grow in the knowledge, skills, mindsets, and habits to run effective, community-driven campaigns
You’ll be connected with a coach who works with members in your region. They’ll act as a guide for your leadership development by providing feedback and insights into your local political landscape
Finally, expect to have fun! When you’re learning and creating change, it’s not just you alone. Creating change means cultivating a movement, and although the issues are real and heavy that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the process with people you like
