Host a Policy Advisor Fellow

The Policy Advisor Fellowship pairs early career LEE members with senior LEE members serving in high-impact leadership roles, deepening fellows' knowledge of local, state, and national policy, and increasing the capacity of the host to make change.



Fellowship overview

  • Six-month, 10-hour-per-week fellowship offered three times a year during the Fall, Winter, and Spring for LEE members who are starting off in their careers

  • Provides hosts with individualized support to increase their ability to refine and execute their education policy goals

  • Enhances the fellow’s skills and network through professional and leadership development, including coaching and online trainings

Become a host



  • Provide weekly direction and feedback to the policy advisor during the fellowship.

  • Depending on the mutual goals of hosts and fellows, provide career and leadership coaching to transition the fellow into a full-time role.


  • Significant ability to impact education policy

  • Demonstrated impact for a significant number of high-need students through your work

  • Substantive work to delegate to a fellow

  • Capacity to manage and develop a fellow

Host application & placement process

Please see below for when we will be accepting applications. Please note that any applications received after the deadline will be considered for the following cohort.

Winter cohort: January 10, 2022 - June 10, 2022

  • Application Opens: October 8, 2021
  • Application Closes: November 7, 2021


Selected hosts will sign an MOU to confirm their commitment. Placements will run for six months following the start date agreed upon by LEE, the hosting organization and the fellow.

Candidates to become fellows will complete an application and a phone interview with a LEE staff member. Hosting senior leaders will also conduct interviews with finalists. 

As a fellowship host, the LEE Policy & Advocacy Team will work with you to articulate your needs and drive the recruitment of qualified policy advisors.
