The election is over, and while there are many uncertainties ahead of us, one thing is for certain — there is a need for people to step up and lead in partnership with their communities. That will be on full display this December when LEE members across the country gather to help build the movement for educational equity at the final LEE National Organizing Workshop (NOW) of 2016.
NOW is a weekend-long skill-building workshop offered regularly throughout the year for LEE members interested in using the power of organizing to change and advance policies, work with decision-makers, and put in place more systems that positively impact students.
Participants will be guided through the concepts of organizing with a mixture of skill-building, practice and application. Specifically, this workshop will cover foundational organizing skills, including telling your personal story, understanding and building power, conducting relational meetings, hosting house meetings, organizing across lines of difference, and developing an effective strategy for change.
