Career Coaching

Career coaching is an invaluable tool for taking your career to the next level. Our team of career coaches are specially equipped to work with those interested in career opportunities in policy, advocacy, organizing, and political leadership. We start by gaining insight into your background, preferred pathways, and goals to provide you with the next steps you need to achieve them.

Many LEE members are matched with a personal coach who can provide a range of career services. However, career coaching is available in a few different formats, to best meet all members. Here are the five different coaching services available:

  1. Career Consultation: This is a one-time call that may lead to either a longer coaching relationship or a different type of career support. This is for members who may be unsure what type of career services match your interests, need support on just one part of the search process, or have a long timeline for career transition.
  2. Career Onramp: This self-guided module allows you to work through career goals and receive optional coaching feedback on application materials and work products.
  3. Group Coaching: This 8-week course allows you to work through specific pre-recorded modules and complete assignments to bring you closer to entering a role in policy, advocacy, or organizing.
  4. Executive Coaching: This format includes personalized one-on-one calls over a 3-month period to enhance your leadership and impact. It’s typically reserved for members who are pursuing senior policy, advocacy, or organizing roles.
  5. 1:1 Career Coaching: This model is best suited for mid- to senior-leaders seeking a new role in policy, advocacy, or organizing. You’ll be connected to a personal coach who will work with you to set-up a plan and next steps over a 3-month period.
  6. 90-Day Success Coaching: If you’ve landed a new policy, advocacy, or organizing role, you can access support for building relationships, aligning on goals and priorities, and exploring equity leadership.

LEE’s Job Board

Ready to pursue your next career move? Organizations that are looking to hire equity leaders partner with LEE to share their open roles and opportunities. We post roles in policy, advocacy, and organizing. We also share opportunities from our partner organizations - most of whom are centered on educational equity.

To access this job board, log in to your member portal and go to: https://educationalequity.org/job-board.

This board is updated weekly with new openings, so check back regularly for new opportunities.

Every job posting has a “Request Support” function to request application preparation support from a coach.

Virtual Learning

Our suite of virtual learning modules helps you prepare for various aspects of your job search and support your career needs. With courses like “Transitioning to a Career in Policy or Advocacy,” “Succeeding in Your Interview,” and “Moving into Management,” you can get tailored support on your own timeline.

These courses share tips, mindsets and strategies — developed by our team of learning & development experts — to position you for success in your search.

Get started by logging in to your member portal then selecting Virtual Courses on your member page. You’ll find all current courses available to you as a member.

Fellowships

Fellowships are a great opportunity for you if you are just entering or want more experience in the policy, advocacy, or organizing industry.

Our Public Policy Fellowship, Policy & Advocacy Summer Fellowship, and partnerships with external fellowship opportunities allow you to enhance your knowledge and skills to prepare you for full-time roles in the future.

Throughout our fellowship experiences, you partner with community or national organizations working towards educational equity and contribute to policy and advocacy work. You’ll also work with a cohort of other LEE fellows to build relationships and career-related skills and knowledge.
