About Organizing Alliances

An Organizing Alliance is a network of LEE members working alongside students, parents, and neighborhood leaders to make change in their communities. Organizing Alliances build relationships with community alliesengage in research to learn about the political landscape. They discern opportunities to make the biggest impact mobilize in action to support equitable policies.

Organizing Alliances have had some big wins, like:

  • In Baltimore, LEE members got the school board to pull back the curtains on how the $1.34 billion budget is made.

  • In Washington, DC, LEE members kept 10 community schools open through their support of a $1.2 million funding allocation.

  • In Texas, LEE members saw an inequity surrounding the school-to-prison pipeline, and got the state to pass a law to rethink discipline policies for young kids.

  • In Louisiana, LEE members got a bill passed that bans public school teachers from paddling special needs students.
