About the Course

 

Community organizing is the backbone to civic change and leadership. Whether you are running for office, or an educator working with families at a school site, it is critical to understand how to build relationships and power through organizing strategies and tactics. “What is the Organizing Cycle?” provides a comprehensive look at community organizing. If you are new to collective action, this module will give you a basic understanding of the key components.

  • The course walks through the steps it takes to execute an organizing campaign, while citing examples of organizing tactics.
  • It highlights specific wins and actions from Organizing Alliances, and gives a more in-depth look at organizing opportunities that LEE offers.
  • After completing this module, you will be better positioned to participate in any of LEE’s Organizing Programming with foundational knowledge already acquired.

Who Should Enroll

 

  • Any LEE member seeking to learn about fundamental skills in Community Organizing, regardless of past experience
  • LEE members interested in working with their regional Organizing Alliance, or coalition-building with other organizers in their area
  • Any member seeking to grow their equity impact

What to Expect

 

  • The course is virtual and self-paced, so you can work through the content on a timeline that works best with your schedule
  • There will be opportunities for you to answer some reflective questions and when you complete the course, you can set up a coaching call with your regional Director of Programming and Organizing or Director of Regional Impact.
  • This course does not require any background knowledge or previous experience with organizing. It’s a great opportunity to understand LEE’s Organizing Model!
