Education postings from my blog
This is my first diary entry on LEE, so I thought I'd start by linking to a couple of education-related posts from my regular blog:

NYC Community Boards
Just wanted to flag that local community boards here in NYC are a great opportunity for folks interested in politics to get a real sense of what is happening in their communities. And the summer is a great chance to hit a meeting to check things out (though they meet slightly less frequently during the summer). The majority of folks on the city council at some point served on their local CB, so it truly is a great opportunity for those interested in running for office or merely in impacting their community.
More info on them is in the continued entry.
Registering to vote in NYC
I know there are at least a few of you out there currently living in NYC that, like me, are not officially registered to vote. Totally, I finally got around to downloading and mailing the form for my voter registration card. http://www.vote.nyc.ny.us/register.html Additionally, I know that a bunch of us tend to move over the summer. Jump on that website to get information about steps you need to take if you are changing addresses. Happy voting!
NYC: Who Is Running For What
Hey All!
My husband Eli Kramer ('03 NYC) has a blog about our neighborhood: www.brooklynjunction.blogspot.com . We're trying to figure out if we can get an RSS feed of the blog to LEE. In the meantime, he just posted on an AWESOME resource for figuring out who is running for local NYC elections: http://www.gothamgazette.com/city/campaigns/.
Enjoy!!

Check out this org that supports women in leadership!!
If you are interested in supporting women in leadership, check out Women's Campaign Forum WCF. This organization recognizes that women usually need to be encouraged and inspired to run for leadership positions - something the DAA team talked about at length at our past conference. To address this need the WCF has created a project called She Should Run.
WCF and their She Should Run provide valuable resources for people who are interested in learning more about pro-choice women in leadership, pursuing leadership positions, politics in NYC and across the nation.
Also, what WCF is trying to do is a really thought provoking idea - it's just really interesting on the whole.
Also check out the INCREDIBLE event WCF recently put on that is not only inspiring, but also a really interesting event program for all of you event planners out there ;-).
